The Alphahome Alumnae Association believes that the recovery process does not end once the individual completes treatment. In fact, we believe this is only the beginning. Recovery is a lifelong process which requires maintenance through a commitment of learning and continued action on the part of the individual to live a healthy sober life. The Alpha Alumnae Association is run solely by women who are in recovery from alcohol and drug addiction. Our purpose is to help women in recovery, stay in recovery by providing support meetings, resources, and sober events that are not only fun, but help build those positive relationships that are so vital in sobriety.
We understand that there may be many obstacles to overcome in the life-long journey of recovery. Many women are faced with homelessness, low-self esteem, lack of education and job skills, and often have a family cycle of addiction. Creating awareness and practical solutions for women is the first step in helping women successfully adjust and integrate back into society after treatment.
The Alphahome Alumnae fellowship of women, gives us a forum in which to stay engaged in the recovery process long after treatment has ended. We are creating a recovery community of women geared towards helping others maintain their sobriety. It is open to all women interested in sharing what they have learned on their journey and willing to offer practical recovery advice to fellow members. We have learned that sharing sober living skills with one another is one way to avoid negative setbacks in our recovery. We have found that the concept of "Learning recovery from those that are recovering" is the key to success.
The Alphahome Alumnae Association uses group events and activities to help encourage and motivate the individual. We encourage responsibility through opportunities to serve as organizers for events throughout the year. Giving back and serving in our own communities has proven to be the most rewarding aspect of our events.
